Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy Deauville: a living legend of Deauville

Coco Chanel, Charles III and Claude Lelouch, among others, made Normandy a legendary destination. It was here that the first chapter in the history of the Barrière Hotel Group was written. On July 11, 1912, during the heyday of balneological resorts, Eugene Cornuchet and his partner François André, founder of the Barrière group, opened the Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy Deauville. It subsequently received the title of “The Most Beautiful Hotel in the World.”

Director Claude Lelouch immortalized the Le Normandy hotel in the famous film ‘A Man and a Woman’. Guests of Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy Deauville have the unique opportunity to stay in a suite named after the film. The room is decorated by furniture and photographs of the most famous scenes from the film.

The hotel’s half-timbered façade, designed by architect Theo Petit, is mesmerizing. Numerous sculptures decorating the ridge of the roof – ceramic animal figurines created in the commune of Bavan – are characteristic of the Côte Fleury region. Similar to a family home interior, the walls of the bedrooms are decorated with toile de Jouy fabric in various shades: sepia, blue, indigo, orange, green and carmine red. Used since the 18th century, this traditional fabric is reminiscent of the craftsmanship of the Jouy-en-Josa print factory.

Many notable artists have stayed at the hotel, such as the artist Kees van Dongen, the writers Colette and Françoise Sagan, and the singer and actor Serge Gainsbourg.

This season, guests of the Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy Deauville will enjoy new gastronomic experiences: two restaurants on the famous wooden promenade Les Planches are preparing for renovation and one will open in the casino in collaboration with the Moma Group:

• The Bar de la Mer restaurant changed its concept to a more family-friendly one and updated its menu
• Ciro’s Restaurant is also undergoing a makeover and promises new unforgettable experiences. Opening scheduled for July
• After Paris, Saint-Tropez and Marrakech, NOTO tours the Barrière Casino in Deauville, offering guests authentic and lavish Italian cuisine brought to life by the distinguished chef Emilio Gianoni. The opening took place on April 13

Vacances Resort offer (from 5 nights):
• Breakfast
• Half board (deposit of 60 euros per day per adult and 25 euros per child)
• Visit to the baby club (from 3 months)
• Visit to the fitness room, swimming pool, sauna and hammam

Grand Hotel Tremezzo: the only one on Lake Como

At the Grand Hotel Tremezzo you will enjoy both a pleasant time admiring the surrounding landscapes as well as new gastronomic experiences. The hotel has three restaurants, a pizzeria and a bar. By using the dimmidisi option, guests can book a separate table in any corner of the property they like.

At La Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi, a gourmet restaurant on one of Lake Como’s most beautiful terraces, tradition meets modernity, taste meets emotion, creativity meets the avant-garde. This is the only restaurant in the world that serves the signature dishes of the unrivaled chef Gualtiero Marchesi, as well as creations inspired by his culinary style. Only the freshest local produce and freshly caught fish are used for cooking.

Gualtiero Marchesi’s successful gastronomic career began in 1977, when he opened his first restaurant in Milan, and just two years later he was awarded two Michelin stars. Marchesi would later receive the highest award from Michelin – three stars, which no chef in Italy had achieved before him.

In 2011, Gualtiero Marchesi visited the Grand Hotel Tremezzo for the first time and was delighted with the place. He told the hotel owners, the De Santis family, about his dream of opening a restaurant here, and soon, together with chef Osvaldo Presazzi, the maestro made his dream come true.

In 2017, after the death of Gualtiero Marchesi, La Terrazza restaurant changed its concept but sought to preserve the master’s legacy and express its respect for his culinary talent. The name of the restaurant immortalizes Marchesi’s name, and the menu includes his signature dishes, which you can still try: veal fillet with foie gras and black truffle, saffron risotto decorated with 23-carat gold leaf, and a tasting menu adapted to the seasons.

The following educational programs are designed for young guests during their stay at Six Senses Rome:

– Vatican Journey for Kids tour: an exciting outing where the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica come to life through the use of an iPad game, while a professional guide introduces parents to key landmarks. As part of the tour, each participant receives a keepsake gift and a papyrus certifying their expert knowledge of Vatican City.

– The “Little Caesar” game will allow children to turn their trip to the Eternal City into an exciting adventure, learning stories and interesting facts about the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill through an interactive app. One of the exciting options is “Castle Hunt”, which reveals the secrets and history of Castel Sant’Angelo, which has undergone transformations from a mausoleum to a museum.

– The exciting quest “Roman Mysteries” allows you to explore the main attractions of the capital of Italy, such as Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, immersing yourself in the atmosphere of the Roman way of life. Correct answers to the questions will earn your child a digital photo certificate of merit

– The “Little Gladiators” tour, for children aged 7 and older, will allow you to learn about how gladiators lived and fought. Hotel de Russie: the renovated Nijinsky Suite

Opened in the early 19th century, this historic Roman hotel from the Rocco Forte Hotels collection was named de Russie for a reason – for many years it has attracted bohemians and celebrities from all over the world, including famous Russian figures.

Members of the Russian imperial family and the royal court stayed here. The hotel hosted Diaghilev’s ballet company during the Russian Seasons tour and Igor Stravinsky, after whom the bar is named.

In 2023, the hotel presented an updated design of the Nijinsky Suite, named after the great dancer Nezhinsky. Olga Polizzi, Design Director of Rocco Forte Hotels, has traditionally been responsible for the design.

“Nijinsky is a true embodiment of an aristocratic Roman residence: original statues adorning the entrance to the suite, wallpaper depicting an Italian garden, terracotta cabochon floors, art objects from the era of the celebrated Roman architect Giuseppe Valadier, a collection of plates from the 19th century – all this establishes an invisible link between the space, the building itself and Rome,” Olga says about the suite’s interior.

The redesign of the interiors of the Nijinsky Suite was the culmination of three years of modernization work at the hotel, during which the spaces of Valadier’s secret garden, Le Jardin restaurant with walls painted by the artist Gio Bressana, Stravinsky bar, reception area, rooms and suites of the Hotel de Russie were completely renovated.
