Hotel de Russie, a Rocco Forte Hotel, Rome: updates for the new season

Over the past few years, the renovation of Hotel de Russie rooms has affected different categories, from simple Classic Rooms to Signature Suites. Due to the great interest of our colleagues, we decided to introduce you to some of the suites worthy of special attention:

• Nijinsky Suite with Terrace – named after the Russian dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, a former regular guest of the hotel. An innovator of dance and one of the leading members of Diaghilev’s Russian Ballet, one of the hotel’s best rooms is dedicated to him. The completely refurbished suite is inspired by a Roman house, featuring original statues, bright red walls and terracotta floors with stone accents. Collections of 19th century tableware and art objects were sourced from Italy and are closely linked to Roman culture

• Garden View Rooms & Suites – the hotel’s renovated rooms now have a separate category overlooking the magnificent Secret Garden. The impeccable decor of Olga Polizzi, the company’s design director, reflects the beauty of the garden’s nature in the delicate color palette of the rooms, complemented by green and sunny hues and botanical prints. I just want to open the windows and let in the fresh aroma of orange trees in the air.

• Fairytale Suite by Hamleys is an immersive experience where every element of the interior speaks to the rich history and traditions of Hamleys – the oldest and largest children’s toy store in the world. Bright red and white colours, teddy bears and toys that appear to be alive, crimson curtains and walls decorated with Hamleys graphics create a real fairytale atmosphere. The suite was created to celebrate the opening of the famous English brand’s new store this spring at Galleria Alberto Sordi in Rome

• Stravinskij Bar is not a luxury bar, but a remodelled bar designed by world famous designer Paolo Moschino and complemented by a new cocktail menu by the legendary mixologist maestro Salvatore Calabrese. The curved lines of the new bar are in perfect harmony with the shapes of the surrounding Secret Garden, and the cocktail list, inspired by Stravinsky’s innovative score for the ballet The Rite of Spring, is designed to create a unique experience through combining musical art and mixology.

Villa Passalacqua, Lake Como: two years in pink and something new

June marks two years since the Passalacqua estate warmly opened its doors to guests from all over the world. The hotel invites you to celebrate this event together in the gardens.

In two years, the estate’s gardens have grown noticeably. In June, roses reign supreme, their intoxicating scent filling the air as guests daydream by the pool, dine under the shaded gazebo, or awaken the mind and body with morning yoga. Passalacqua garden curator Giovanna Longhi recreated the rose garden from 19th-century drawings and engravings of the villa and selected varieties of roses that were planted at that time.

Celebrating the scent of roses, the Passalacqua estate crafts small batch Italian dry gin to order. The exclusive drink is based on a mixture of thirteen plant components, including roses from Como, juniper berries from the Apennines, aromatic Sicilian citruses and oriental spices. Passalacqua Italian Dry Gin is equally ideal served with tonic or in a Negroni, and can also be enjoyed in the villa’s bartenders’ signature cocktails.

The chef of this season is Viviana Varese, a famous gastronomic personality in Italy, owner of a prestigious Michelin star. As a teenager, under the guidance of her father, Viviana mastered the skill of pizza maker, later worked as a chef in the restaurants of the Eataly gastronomic centers in Milan, and owned her own pastry shops and trattorias in Milan and Sicily. Together with her team, she developed a new menu for guests of the villa, where she emphasized not only the form, but also the soul. The dishes combine the traditions of Italian cuisine, the characteristics of the region and are full of improvisation.

Also this summer, the villa has a new outdoor and indoor swimming pool. It is connected to the spa by underground tunnels that run through the Passalacqua gardens.

By the way, Villa Passalacqua is now open to guests all year round. Here you can spend the winter and celebrate New Year and Christmas.

Lido Villeggiatura, A Villa Sant’Andrea, Sicily: open after “reboot”

One of Taormina’s most prestigious hotels, Villa Sant’Andrea Beach Club in the iconic Mazaro Bay, near the picturesque resort town on the east coast of Sicily, opened on June 10, 2024 as the first beach club in the Belmond portfolio of hotels.

The hotel has 71 rooms, a restaurant, 3 bars, a beach club on a private beach, an outdoor heated swimming pool, a SPA center, a water sports center, a children’s club, conference and banquet rooms. Next door there is a golf course.

Holidays at the hotel are available for families and groups of friends, and are organized according to the concept of “Villeggiatura” – a celebration of the endless Italian summer holidays from dawn to dusk on the seashore.

The modern Mediterranean design of Villa Sant’Andrea retains the charm of a private summer residence from the 1950s, highlighted by antique tiles and ceramics that pay attention to the craftsmanship of Sicilian artisans, as well as the natural surroundings of the Isola Bella Nature Reserve.

Inspired by a mid-century aesthetic, the new Lido Villeggiatura beach club comes to life with stylish white and blue striped sun loungers and umbrellas in the azure hues of the sea. For those seeking more privacy, six cabanas are available with plush sofas, private sun loungers and even tented verandas where alfresco dining is served al fresco by a caring butler.

Bright and inviting cushions, whose lace merletto is typical for
Islands, colorful straw fabrics, and custom blue lava tiles from the nearby Mount Etna decorate the bar and draw attention to local traditions. The hotel’s historic gardens, Sicilian terracotta vases and subtropical plants, curtains like white sails blown by the sea breeze and filled with sunlight create the perfect backdrop for a carefree summer in Sicily.

The Lido Villeggiatura beach club has launched a host of activities for the summer season, from sunrise yoga and water sports to coastal excursions on board the Apreamare Gozzo 35 yacht, including a visit to the Isola Bella nature reserve for scuba diving. In the evenings at the club there are indispensable DJ sets and movies under the stars.

Guests and visitors can enjoy the cuisine of Villa Sant’Andrea’s restaurants located right on the coastline: from gastronomic dinners at Brizza and exciting culinary experiences with Chef D’Angelo accompanied by rare Etna wine aged at sea to seafood dinners at Ristorante Sant ‘Andrea and Brace Grill at the bar, where pizza and the morning’s catch of fish are grilled in full view of the guests. Special dinners with Michelin stars from around the world will be announced later this season.

Lido Villeggiatura is open daily for guests and visitors until the hotel closes on November 3, 2024:
• Free sun loungers and umbrellas are included in the room rate at Villa Sant’Andrea
• Visitor prices start from 300 euros and include access to a private beach, two sun loungers, beach umbrella, towels, amenities, Wi-Fi
• For guests and visitors, private cabanas are available from €1,000 and can accommodate up to four people. The service includes a comfortable tented living room with a veranda, sun loungers and a sofa, as well as access to a minibar with complimentary soft drinks and a bottle of champagne. For an additional fee you can organize lunch or a picnic in the cabana.

Place Vendôme, Paris: new “anti-hotel” from Chopard for the ultra-wealthy

A pair of blue doors and a wrought-iron gate with a cursive “C” are the only identifiers of the new Chopard Hotel, surrounded by a jewelry store.

In November 2023, luxury jewelry and watch maker Chopard quietly opened an “anti-hotel” in the heart of Paris — not just a new word and concept, but an ultra-luxury lifestyle in the heart of the French capital.

Much about Chopard’s first-ever hotel project, from its targeted name, 1 Place Vendôme, to its lack of self-promotion and opening fanfare—seems atypical at first. The hotel itself, which occupies floors above the existing Chopard boutique on Place Vendôme, is also easy to miss due to the lack of branded signage. However, our specialists in France will always guide you. With this treasure hotel Á la Carte Premium has a lucrative contract would extend its benefits to you.

In the hotel’s “Winter Garden” there is a living room with a glass roof and natural light, with a mosaic of cabochon precious stones, which corresponds to one of the most sought-after styles of wealthy living today – “quiet luxury”. But this also embodies one of the most cutting-edge marketing trends in the luxury world: “We live in an era where product launches are done with a big marketing campaign and a big event. It’s all too ceremonial,” Karl-Fritz Scheufele, a representative of the third generation of the Scheufele family, owners of the Chopard brand since 1963, shared with us. “We wanted to do everything differently. Purposefully.” And they did – direct communication with leading travel agencies, selectivity in relation to PR channels and access to all hotel services only for Chopard’s guests and VIP clients (that is, outside visitors can’t just just go for an aperitif in the bar).

“There is a growing clientele that seeks exclusivity and privacy,” added project consultant Didier Le Calvez, our long-time partner and a veteran of the hospitality industry, whose portfolio includes first-class hotels, such as the Four Seasons George V and Le Bristol in Paris, and also The Plaza and The Pierre in New York. “We wanted to create a semi-private hotel, like a really beautiful family residence—an anti-hotel.”

Interesting? We continue!
