Rosewood Abu Dhabi: an elegant hotel that impressed us
2 December 2024
The other day, colleagues from our Dubai office visited the Rosewood Abu Dhabi city hotel in the capital of the Emirates, Abu Dhabi, and were impressed. The first surprise was that the hotel had already celebrated its 11th anniversary, but its exteriors and interiors seemed to say the opposite: the hotel was brand new.
The architecture of Rosewood Abu Dhabi reflects the ascetic, but impressive nature of the Emirates. The reflective glass facade of the 34-story high-rise sparkles day and night, and the glass inlaid wall and waterfalls in the lobby maintain the wow effect. The luxurious hotel, which rose on a sandbank in 2013, continues to be the best place to stay on the man-made island of Al Maryah.
This is the first and only Rosewood in the UAE, but like the other 26 hotels in the chain around the world, it embodies style and sophistication. In addition to its opulent interiors and attentive service, the hotel has a prime location: right on the waterfront.
It is often visited by locals and visitors from the Gulf countries, who are known to be particularly discerning.
The hotel has four room categories: Classic, Deluxe, Executive and Manor Club. Even the basic room is incredibly nice, with modern leather furniture, dark wood and soft tones in the decor. Thanks to the panoramic glazing, the room is full of natural light. The marble bathroom is spacious, with views of Abu Dhabi and the ability to block it out with a special curtain at the touch of a button.
Among the many restaurants here, the most popular is Dai Pai Dong with Cantonese cuisine – it is known for its Saturday Yum Cha brunch and relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Sambusek serves Lebanese cuisine and is especially popular with locals, which is always a good sign. Aqua is the 24-hour main restaurant where breakfast is served. There is also a secret bar and a wine cellar.
Another major advantage, in our opinion, is that the hotel is directly connected, via its own elevator, to two buildings. The first is The Galleria shopping center, where all the major premium brands are represented. The second is an American clinic where serious operations are performed, including organ transplants, which means that relatives and friends of patients can comfortably stay for a long time in the Rosewood Abu Dhabi residences.
Business travelers can take advantage of the Manor Club, a lounge with complimentary breakfast, lunch, snacks, afternoon tea, as well as evening cocktails and tapas. The Sense Spa has a chromotherapy shower, a Jacuzzi and a hammam with gold-plated tiles. Among other things, there is a fitness center, an outdoor pool with controlled temperature, cabins and sun loungers, as well as a children’s play center Rose Buds.
