Amankora, Bhutan
12 March 2024
Amankora’s five lodges, located in the central and western valleys of Bhutan (Paro, Thimphu, Gangtey, Punakha and Bumthang), for nearly 20 years have been providing guests with a unique opportunity to tour the world’s last remaining Buddhist Kingdom.
From July 2023, the tourist tax of $200 per person per day has been reduced for guests visiting the Kingdom of Bhutan for more than four days. In that, travelers paying the tax for four days can stay for another four days without additional payment, and tourists paying the 12-day tax will be allowed to stay for a month.
The closest to Paro International Airport is Paro Lodge, a 25-minute drive, while the furthest is Thimphu Lodge, a 90-minute drive.
Bhutan Airlines and Druk Air are the only carriers allowed to fly through Bhutan’s unique Himalayan terrain. Amankora can arrange flights to and from Paro International Airport through air gateways in Bangkok, Delhi, Kolkata, Dhaka, Kathmandu and Singapore.
Guests wishing to travel on a private jet or charter flight between Bhutan’s two airlines should contact our reservations team ([email protected]) for further information.
We are always ready to help with trip planning, from booking and accommodation to developing travel itineraries containing a combination of several Amankora lodges, as well as assisting with obtaining visas and other travel formalities for visiting Bhutan.
