71st Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago
4 July 2025
The 71st Puccini Festival will take place from July 18 to September 6, 2025 in Torre del Lago, Tuscany.
At the end of the 19th century, Giacomo Puccini came to Torre del Lago. The composer wanted to find a picturesque and quiet place where his creative genius could spill out. The small village, whose houses were reflected in the gray-blue waters of Lake Massaciuccoli, immediately appealed to him.
The Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago is an annual summer open-air opera extravaganza dedicated to the works of Giacomo Puccini. The event has been held since 1930 in the Gran Teatro all’Aperto, specially built for this purpose on the shores of the lake – next to the maestro’s villa, where he lived and worked. The theatre seats approximately 3.2–3.4 thousand people and attracts around 40 thousand spectators each season.
The following productions are scheduled from July 18 to September 6:
• Tosca – July 18 (opening), August 1, 9, 29.
• La Bohème – July 19, 26, August 7.
• Turandot – July 25, August 2, 4, 22, September 5.
• Madama Butterfly – August 8, 23.
• Manon Lescaut – August 30, September 6.
• Gala concert with Anna Netrebko – August 13 (the programme includes arias from operas by Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi).
• Morricone Story (a tribute to Ennio Morricone) – July 24.
During the festival (and not only!) Á La Carte Premium recommends accommodation in the following hotels:
• Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte 5*, Viareggio;
• Plaza e de Russie 5*, Viareggio;
• or… in the villa of Giacomo Puccini himself!
