CATEGORY #PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: W DUBAI – MINA SEYAHI
5 December 2024
There are two hotels of the Double U chain in Dubai: W Dubai – The Palm on the man-made island of Palm Jumeirah and W Dubai – Mina Seyahi on the shore in the Mina Seyahi area, respectively. There are also two W hotels in Chicago and New York. On my current visit to Dubai, I stayed at W Dubai – Mina Seyahi.
I remember very well how in the spring of 2022 I wrote texts about the upcoming wow-opening of the W Dubai – Mina Seyahi hotel, based on official press releases and opinions of the first eyewitnesses – colleagues from the Dubai office of Á La Carte Premium. It was all the more interesting to compare what I wrote with what I saw, albeit two years later.
Summary: I really liked W Dubai – Mina Seyahi! Why?
I liked the check-in at the hotel. When we approached the check-in desk, there were a couple of people in front of us in the queue. But we didn’t have to wait standing: a hotel employee appeared out of nowhere and, kindly asking how she could help, invited us to sit on the sofas, brought refreshing drinks and small wet towels. Just being in the lobby with such interiors was already a pleasure!
We liked the Marvelous room category – irregular in shape, but infinitely comfortable (53 sq. m). This is about ergonomics and design, about the width of the beds and the luxury of bed linen, about the hydromassage bath and tropical shower, about the spacious balcony with a view of … no, not the Persian Gulf, as they write in the original sources, but coastal Dubai, full of serenity during the day and shining with a billion lights in the evening.
We liked the breakfasts, which are served from 7:00 in the main restaurant of the hotel Ginger Moon in the buffet format. They include, for example, not just coffee, but iced coffee with almond milk, not just freshly squeezed juices, but intricate smoothies. Not just sparkling wine, but a Mimosa cocktail (it can be prepared at the guest’s request) or a Bloody Mary, which the guests can shake up themselves at a separate station dedicated exclusively to this noble morning drink. All these joys are included in the price of accommodation.
I liked the terrace of the Ginger Moon restaurant, where you can have breakfast, and then curl up into a sun lounger, and when you had enough lying down, roll into the infinity pool. That’s exactly what I did. From midday, DJs start playing music on the terrace. Here you can also have a beautiful lunch on a sun lounger or at a table in the shade of umbrellas and watch the sunset up to your neck in the water. Everything is designed to make sure that the guests have no time for anything else but partying.
I liked the bar, club and Japanese restaurant Attiko on the 31st floor of the W-building. Once I dropped in at 10 pm, not expecting a large crowd of guests at this time on a weekday, but to my surprise the club was full, and the atmosphere was as heated as it usually is in night clubs after midnight! It offers truly breathtaking views of the entire coastline, but I didn’t get to find out how wonderful the menu and signature cocktails are here – there were no free seats even at the bar. Establishments like Attiko, which are famous all over Dubai, should be booked in advance.
Perhaps the only weak point of the hotel I would consider is the beach. But this place is weak temporarily. During my stay in November 2024, there was construction work near the beach, the noise from which drowned out even the music in the Barasti Beach Club. However, guests of the W Dubai – Mina Seyahi hotel can use any other beach in the Mina Seyahi complex of three hotels – The Westin or Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, where it is not noisy, and there is more sea.
By the way, for hotel guests, the Mina Seyahi complex includes the following free of charge:
• 7 swimming pools (including two pools for children).
• Jungle Bay Water Park (13 water slides, a wave pool for children and adults).
• Kids’ club, animation program (4-12 years).
• Club Mina Fitness Spa.
• 14 restaurants and bars for HB/FB/AI Dine Around.
• Barasti Beach Club (21+).
• Mare by Bussola Beach Club (16+).
And here’s another note from us:
• Half board includes breakfast and a choice of lunch or dinner.
• For breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can choose from 14 restaurants and bars (à la carte or buffet).
• In à la carte restaurants, guests can choose three delicious dishes from the menu.
Always remember: if you’re going to Dubai, make sure to go with Á La Carte Premium!
