Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma reopens after a major renovation
1 November 2024
Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma, a historic palazzo from the Starhotels Collezione collection, reopened on September 27, 2024 after a major renovation.
To celebrate its opening, the hotel is offering an increased commission of 20% for all bookings until December 31, 2024.
The hotel now offers new rooms and suites, a new rooftop terrace with unrivaled views, and a new spa.
Since the 19th century, Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma has been a favorite vacation spot for Roman aristocracy and international guests. The hotel is located a few steps from the famous Spanish Steps and the famous shopping street Via Condotti.
The hotel’s history dates back to the mid-16th century, when it was a residence for guests of the Palazzo Torlonia, located across the street. The renovation work began in 2023 and included the restoration of the historic façade, supervised by Soprintendenza – the Office for the Protection of Historic and Artistic Property – and the modernization of all rooms and suites. Their total number was reduced from 84 to 80 to create more space for luxurious interiors.
The renovation project was inspired by the Great Journeys of the 19th century. Initiated by Elisabetta Fabri, President and CEO of Starhotels, it was based on her vision and it was carried out with all the historical nuances in mind.
The careful renovation used old images and photographs of the building, as well as documents dating back to the 19th century. The conservative restoration went beyond the façade, affecting the furniture and fabrics, key areas and furnishings of the hotel, such as the reception area.
As part of the La Grande Bellezza – The Dream Factory initiative, a Starhotels patronage project aimed at promoting the traditions of Italian craftsmen, all the necessary work was carried out exclusively by them.
“It has been an honour to oversee the restoration of this Roman gem, the Hotel d’Inghilterra. Preserving the heritage was of the utmost importance, as was done during the restoration of the Hotel Helvetia & Bristol in Florence,” comments Elisabetta Fabri. “Here in Rome, we had the unique opportunity to combine classic notions of elegance with the modern comforts demanded by discerning guests. The result is a historic space that offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a true second home for those seeking beauty, well-being and a piece of Italian magic.”
This season, we will continue to acquaint you with the details of the renovation, new promotions and offers of the hotel.
