Olympic Italy 2026: what awaits guests
11 August 2025
From February 6 to 22, 2026, Italy will host the XXV Winter Olympic Games – a large-scale event that will be held for the first time in history in two key centers at once – Milan, the capital of the Lombardy region, and the famous Alpine resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo.
On February 6, the Olympic flame will flare up at the legendary San Siro stadium!
Milan will solemnly open the XXV Winter Olympic Games – with a grand show, a parade of participating countries and an unforgettable festive atmosphere.
But Milan’s participation in the Olympics is not limited to the opening ceremony. The city will become the arena for exciting competitions:
* Hockey at the new arenas – PalaItalia and PalaSharp.
* Figure skating and short track – at the legendary Forum di Milano.
Situated in the heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Cortina d’Ampezzo is not only an elegant resort with stunning scenery, but also part of the world’s largest ski area, Dolomiti Superski (over 1,200 km of slopes and 450 lifts).
The resort hosted the Winter Olympics back in 1956, and 70 years later it will once again host Milano Cortina 2026.
What awaits guests:
• 17 days of competition.
• More than 90 sets of medals.
• 8 host cities across Northern Italy.
• Opening (Milan) and closing (Verona) ceremonies.
• Meetings with sports legends and world-class cultural events.
