Villa Passalacqua, Lake Como: two years in pink and something new
1 July 2024
June marks two years since the Passalacqua estate warmly opened its doors to guests from all over the world. The hotel invites you to celebrate this event together in the gardens.
In two years, the estate’s gardens have grown noticeably. In June, roses reign supreme, their intoxicating scent filling the air as guests daydream by the pool, dine under the shaded gazebo, or awaken the mind and body with morning yoga. Passalacqua garden curator Giovanna Longhi recreated the rose garden from 19th-century drawings and engravings of the villa and selected varieties of roses that were planted at that time.
Celebrating the scent of roses, the Passalacqua estate crafts small batch Italian dry gin to order. The exclusive drink is based on a mixture of thirteen plant components, including roses from Como, juniper berries from the Apennines, aromatic Sicilian citruses and oriental spices. Passalacqua Italian Dry Gin is equally ideal served with tonic or in a Negroni, and can also be enjoyed in the villa’s bartenders’ signature cocktails.
The chef of this season is Viviana Varese, a famous gastronomic personality in Italy, owner of a prestigious Michelin star. As a teenager, under the guidance of her father, Viviana mastered the skill of pizza maker, later worked as a chef in the restaurants of the Eataly gastronomic centers in Milan, and owned her own pastry shops and trattorias in Milan and Sicily. Together with her team, she developed a new menu for guests of the villa, where she emphasized not only the form, but also the soul. The dishes combine the traditions of Italian cuisine, the characteristics of the region and are full of improvisation.
Also this summer, the villa has a new outdoor and indoor swimming pool. It is connected to the spa by underground tunnels that run through the Passalacqua gardens.
By the way, Villa Passalacqua is now open to guests all year round. Here you can spend the winter and celebrate New Year and Christmas.
